A memorial plaque in Cheboksary to Valeriy Emdyukov who was killed in Syria shows the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) logo. State media reported he served in Tolyatti, where 3rd Spetsnaz GRU brigade is based. This brigade's soldiers were captured by Ukrainians in 2015.
